Living up to our potential (2018)
These last few years in my personal growth have been about becoming good at managing my own goals, having respect for my schedule and living up to my potential. I have managed to make great strides in this department in my life; finishing a book, starting two youtube channels about things I care about, launched an online community for holistic black living, creating a black women´s circle in Copenhagen and making my first exhibition on black hair and identity in Denmark with three other cool African girls! While the feeling that there is always more to accomplish sometimes wavers like a faithful cloud on my conscious, I also try to remind myself of where I have been and what I have accomplished so I can give myself some good love and self-affirmation. We are now two whole weeks into the new year, I have set new and old goals I still want to make strides towards in this new year- however, I knew that for this year, I wanted to go with someone and not go at it alone. I wished for a support and accountability buddy also needing the same kind of support to live up to their full potential and basically make things happen!
We decided on a two weeks meeting plan – where each time we meet, we share a few goals we want to have done by the time of our next #blackgirlmagic talk- we also wish to support each other on the journey, lending a hand wherever we can with our specific skills.
There is an African proverb that states – “if you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together” and boy does our vision stretch far!
This, of course, is also an exercise for me to lean more on my sister-circle and to not only cheer for each other on the sidelines but to be there helping each other, motivating each other to reach for the stars. In 2018 and beyond!
Good luck to us and to you, for every stride you make towards your highest self, may the universe meet you halfway with good fortune.
Happy New Year
